2024 - State Income Taxes

Several proposals were made in the 2024 primary to eliminate the state income tax. While on the surface this sounds appealing to many voters. However, there is a strong fact to consider. This income to the state revenue will have to be replaced somehow. When someone thinks to ask how this will be done, members of the Republican SUPERMAJORITY answer that they will create a NEW SALES TAX ON SERVICES, FOOD, AND MEDICINES. You will pay sales tax on your haircuts, oil changes, doctor visits, and auto repairs. You will pay sales tax on your groceries. You will pay sales tax on your medicine. This is a regressive tax. It will move the burden of funding our government services to the poor and middle classes rather than the people who can afford to pay more in taxes. I will oppose any bill proposed which moves tax burden to Hoosiers who can’t afford to pay more when they buy things.
